Green stores in Aalborg

“Green Shop” is a national diploma scheme for shops, which are run environmentally, e.g. by improving the use of energy and waste, or aiming to increase their range of organic goods. In order to qualify as a "Green Shop", you need to meet certain standards. The scheme includes an energy/environmental survey of the way the shop is run and guidance in terms of the shop’s selection of a minimum of three focus areas per year. The diploma is renewed each year.

The spreading of "Green Shops"

Although 13 cities in Denmark have "Green Shops", Aalborg has the highest rise in interested stores. The idea has had an overwhelming level of interest and within six months, 85 stores had signed up for the diploma scheme in Aalborg. Once everyone has received their diploma, Aalborg is the city in Denmark with the highest number of "Green Shops".

Close to 100 stores

Aalborg along with Nibe have almost reached 100 "Green Shops" and among the stores, VisitAalborgs tourist information has also been certified. In Gravensgade, the stores have united in realizing the dream of having a whole pedestrian street in Aalborg with "Green Shops", focusing on climate friendly store service.
