Industry and modern architecture
During the latest years, Aalborg has gone through a transformation – from being an Industry City – to being a student- and cultural town. This is especially obvious in the centre of Aalborg – near the habour, whish we locally call the Waterfront. The city-harbour used to be parking and factories, now, you can swim in the swimming area, listen to music or see gallery exhibitions at the architectonical beauty the Utzon Centre and The House of Music. The Old Aalborg
You can visit Hjelmerstad, from the 15th century, or the old renaissance house Jens Bangs Stenhus (Jens Bang’s Stone House) on Boulevarden. If you want to go further back in time, we recommend Lindholm Høje in the city on the other side of the Fjord, Nørresundby – where you can see traces from when Vikings occupied the city.
